01 · Enterprise learning · Volkswagen of America

Modernizing delivery while recovering hidden operating value

Situation. Training delivery and reporting crossed five business divisions, legacy satellite distribution, LMS integrations, completion controls, and complex billing data.

Work. Coordinated training modernization across the divisions, built the integration path to internet/LMS delivery, repaired reporting and data-integrity gaps, and closed control weaknesses that allowed completion tracking to be bypassed.

Outcomes

  • Approximately $2M in annual savings enabled
  • More than $80K per quarter in unbilled training expenses identified
  • Modernization coordinated across five divisions

02 · Healthcare SaaS · PE-backed transformation

Situation. Following an acquisition, the business needed to evolve a legacy desktop product while maintaining customer continuity and operating through extended periods without a CTO in the seat.

Work. Served as a senior technical voice across modernization direction, engineering standards, documentation, executive decisions, cloud SaaS work, and DSN Pay—DSN’s payments implementation built on the Adyen platform. Modernized legacy .NET components and replaced WCF Data Services with durable workflows.

Outcomes

  • Approximately 400% performance improvement in the modernized workflow
  • Cloud payments covering onboarding through disputes and exceptions
  • Modernization direction maintained through leadership gaps

03 · Cybersecurity education · SANS Institute

Scaling a shared learning platform without sacrificing control

Situation. SANS’s security-awareness training product area required multi-tenant isolation, reliable imports and curriculum automation, reporting, customer-system integration, and performance at approximately 1.2 million-user scale.

Work. Built and administered the LMS engine behind the product area, including a first-of-its-kind multi-tenant SumTotal environment. Helped create a headless integration model for customer systems and SCORM delivery, including work with Rustici on a reverse-proxy approach for remote content streaming.

Outcomes

  • Approximately 1.2M-user operating scale
  • Approximately 3× database-performance improvement
  • Headless customer integration with SCORM delivery
